Conservative Trifecta

Was out running an errand last night and caught Ann Coulter and Brent Bozell together on the Sean Hannity radio program.

Coulter, no surprise, was on her game and devastating. She refused to give an inch, even when Hannity tried to throw the White House some softballs (e.g., "Ann, what if Miers turned out to have a great track record as a justice, wouldn't you then think she was a good pick?" Coulter: "No!")

Bozell, however, made the most compelling point. Referring to Ronald Reagan, he said that Reagan would be willing to take on a fight -- even if he knew he would probably lose -- if he thought the principle was worth fighting for. Bozell said (and I'm paraphrasing big time) that sometimes you make more progress towards your goal by losing a fight because you call attention to the issue and show you are willing to stand and fight for your principles.

Unfortunately, for a lot of conservatives, George Bush looks like he's doing just the opposite -- putting up an unqualified nominee because he's unwilling to fight for a qualfied conservative nominee.
