Um, I Hope You're Not Serious
There are a number of tragedies associated with the fall of the Legionaries of Christ. Of course, those who were assaulted and abused by Fr. Maciel are first in our prayers. But, we should also pray for those members of the Legion and Regnum Christi who, for whatever reason, were duped by Fr. Maciel and his enablers.
Unfortunately, to this day, some of those people still maintain the delusion that Fr. Maciel was the victim of lies, calumnies and slanders. After reading today of the recent appointment of Archbishop De Paolis as the Pope's delegate to oversee the Legion, I saw this recent post on a Catholic forum (to spare this person further embaressment, I'm not going to post his name or the site. But, take my word for it, I'm not making this up):
Re: Pope Names Official to Run Legionaries
To what extent will all this affect Fr. Maciel's cause for sainthood? There are those who believe that certain churchmen are trying to frame him with the accusations against him.
Wow. This guy is not just drinking the Legion kool-aid, he's got the fire hose in his mouth.
It seems most likely to me that the cause has been deep-sixed or at least put on the back burner.
